About EMSL

Strategy and Operations

Learn more about EMSL's plans for the future in the Strategic Plan as well as the Goldbook, which outlines the science and technological drivers for EMSL's recapitalization effort. The EMSL report, The Development of New User Research Capabilities in Environmental Molecular Science Workshop, describes the workshop discussions and recommendations from which many of the forward-looking decisions discussed in the Goldbook were derived.

Business Reports

The EMSL Quarterly Report is now EMSL's online bi-monthly newsletter, The Molecular Bond. See prior years quarterly and annual reports.

Operations

The EMSL Operations Manual (version 4.24 May 3, 2012) is a general resource tool to assist Laboratory staff and EMSL users with locating official EMSL policy, practice, guidance, and associated subject matter experts.

EMSL's Data Management policies provide information to help researchers understand the data resources and data management available at EMSL. This information can be used by researchers to meet data management requirements as they prepare proposals for funding to other agencies.

User and Project Statistics

In addition to tracking utilization and operating hours, the User Support Office provides quarterly data about active users and projects by proposal type.

Hours of Operations

EMSL Hours of Operation through 2013 first quarter

EMSL's total scheduled (planned) operating hours are based on 12 hours a day (6 am -6 pm), seven days a week (4380 hours) minus 8 holidays (96 hours.) and 1 planned power outage (26 hours). See the enlarged image [png 51kb].
Note: Holidays are Thanksgiving (2), Christmas (2), New Year's (1), Memorial Day (1), July 4th (1), and Labor Day (1).
