Chinook: Chinook - Earlier than Scheduled Downtime
March 05, 2010 11:43 AM - Chinook has been unavailable since 11:30 a.m. (PST) today. This is earlier than expected. Chinook will not be available again until late Sunday night, or early Monday morning, March 8, 2010. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Chinook: Chinook - Network Downtime
February 23, 2010 3:45 PM - On Thursday, February 25, 2010 between 9:00 and 10:00 pm (PST), network systems in the EMSL building will experience a short duration network outage (less than 1 minute ). Chinook jobs will be unaffected. -
Chinook: Chinook - Scheduled Downtime: March 5-8, 2010
February 19, 2010 2:49 PM - System administrators will begin draining the Chinook queue so by 2:00 p.m. (PST) Friday, March 5, 2010, users will not be able to login. The power outage will last until early Monday morning. Once power has been restored, Chinook will be started. We will send an e-mail and post an announcement on the MSC Website once Chinook and network services have been restored. Jobs waiting in the queue before the outage will be start once Chinook is stable. As always, mscf-consulting@emsl.pnl.gov is the place to send all questions. -
Chinook: Chinook - Login Nodes Available
February 10, 2010 5:49 PM - Chinook login nodes are available again as is the /dtemp file system. We will continue to work with our vendor in improving bandwidth to the /dtemp file system. It is stable enough to return to use. Submitted jobs should start running. -
Chinook: Chinook - Login Nodes Available
February 10, 2010 10:03 AM - Greetings, Chinook login nodes are available again. Chinook?s software stack has been upgraded successfully, but we are troubleshooting a performance issue on the /dtemp filesystem and still running some test jobs. You may log in and submit jobs, but they will not run until /dtemp is working satisfactorily. We are working closely with HP on the issue and hope it will be resolved within a few hours -
Chinook: Chinook - Some Login Nodes Unavailable
February 05, 2010 9:02 AM - All Chinook login nodes where unavailable earlier today. You may not be able to log in, or you may find that it logs you off or hangs intermittently. Running and queued batch jobs are not affected by this problem. We are working to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience. Chinook: Chinook - Scheduled Downtime
February 01, 2010 5:25 PM - The next scheduled Chinook outage will begin early Tuesday morning, Feb. 9th at 12:01 a.m. (PST). During this outage /dtemp will really be reformatted and all data not backed up or copied to your local file system will be lost forever. The /home file system will be backed up and restored but /home should not be used to store large data files. A new Linux kernel will be installed along with upgrades to the Lustre file system, /dtemp. All data on /dtemp will be lost unless you have copied it to NWfs or your local computer. January 12, 2010 11:52 AM - The Chinook outage has ended early due to unexpected problems that cropped up. Queues are open and login nodes are available. The new Linux Operating System will be installed along with upgrades to the Lustre file system during the next outage in February. -
