A post-doctoral position is available in the High Performance Software Development group of the Environmental Molecular Science Laboratory (EMSL) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), located in Richland, WA (USA). The candidate will be involved in the development of new quantum chemistry methods, based on plane-wave DFT and the relativistic ZORA approximation, for treating complex oxide and actinide interfaces. The methods will be developed for massively parallel computers and implemented in the NWChem software package. Candidates are expected to have experience in software development and knowledge of plane wave DFT. Additional experience with the ZORA approximation and parallel programming would be preferred. An ideal candidate will have an interdisciplinary training with a background in computational chemistry, physics, and computer science. This is a limited term employment position with a one-year appointment, and possible extensions up to two years based upon funding and individual performance. Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry (or similar field) from an accredited college/university within the last 5 years is required. Required skills include expertise in computer programming using FORTRAN, C, and plane wave DFT methodologies. Strong written and oral communication skills are also required. Experience in using parallel computers and/or with relativistic methodologies is desirable. To apply go to http://jobs.pnl.gov . The job requisition number for this position is 111248.
