Transportation
There are frequent flights to the Tri-Cities airport in Pasco (PSC) from Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Denver, CO. The Pasco airport is served by Delta, United, and Alaska/Horizon airlines. The Tri-Cities area is composed of Richland, Pasco and Kennewick with a total population of approximately 150,000. It is about 220 miles southeast of Seattle, WA and about 210 miles east of Portland, OR. Drive from either Seattle, WA or Portland, OR to Tri-Cities over the Cascade Mountains is very beautiful and scenic. Transportation between hotels (Red Lion Inn and Hampton Inn) and the EMSL will be provided by shuttle at the beginning and end of the symposium each day. Here are some of the useful websites about these cities:

Recreation Activities
The Tri-Cities area is a one- to two-hour drive from the Cascade Mountain range to the west and the beautiful Blue Mountains to the east. Mount Rainier National Park, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Columbia Gorge National Scenic area, and Grand Coulee Dam are within two hours driving distance. The Columbia, Snake, and Yakima Rivers meet at the Tri-Cities, so water sports and fishing opportunities abound. The Tri-Cities Winery Association is comprised of numerous wineries throughout the area, which are open daily.
