Achievements: Morphology & Physiology

Top: Direct projection from 120 nm thick section.
Bottom: 5 nm slice obtained from reconstructed volume, showing the improved membrane detail.
The images above were created from the acquisition of a tilt series from +/- 80 degrees, ~250 nm thick sections. There was automated alignment of projection series, volume reconstruction and slice-by-slice stack inspection with, finally, reconstructed object rendering by Image3D and Amira software. This allows visualization in 3D of organelles, macromolecules, viruses, etc.

TEM Tomography software
This is the first tomography dataset obtained during the application training on April 25-27, 2006. Images of a 150 nm section of Cyanothece processed by HPF/AFS were acquired from (-70/+65 deg rotation along the x axis, images were stacked and aligned by a series of iterations by ImageTEM software. Slice-by-slice projections were then obtained from the 3D reconstruction.
