Transformations of organic coatings in light-absorbing aerosols released by biomass burning, and associated impacts on the interactions with clouds

Abstract

Abstract

We propose to employ the unique analytical capabilities at EMSL to study samples collected during ongoing ASR DOE-funded projects. The goal is to study the interactions of black carbon-containing particles with clouds, including how these interactions (1) drive direct and indirect radiative forcing, (2) modify cloud microphysical properties, and (3) govern the wet removal and transformations of black carbon-containing particles.
