EMSL User Executive Committee Seeking New Members

Researchers who are users of the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory are invited to self-nominate or nominate another user for the open EMSL User Executive Committee positions.  

The EMSL User Executive Committee (UEC) is seeking nominations for three committee member positions. The new members will serve a three-year term starting October 2024.

Nominations are due by March 2. 

One position is available in each of EMSL's science areas—Functional and Systems Biology, Environmental Transformations and Interactions, and Computing, Analytics, and Modeling

Candidates must be current EMSL users or users from the last two fiscal years.

Nominees should meet the following qualifications:

  • Leads with the highest personal and professional ethics and integrity
  • Represents the interests of the EMSL user community and the EMSL user facility mission and vision
  • Possesses inquisitive and objective perspective, practical wisdom, and mature judgment
  • Fulfills duties and responsibilities effectively, including a commitment to serve on the committee for the entire term. 

To ensure diversity among the committee, we strive not to have members from the same institution. As a result of our current committee membership, we are not accepting nominations from: 

  • Pacific Northwest National Laboratory 
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory 
  • Colorado State University
  • West Texas A&M 
  • University of Washington
  • Purdue University

The UEC provides advice and recommendations to EMSL's management team on matters affecting the EMSL User Organization, including operating policies, operating hours for specific instruments, and needs for facilities, infrastructure, and instrumentation; assisting in planning activities for the annual EMSL User Meeting; and forming ad hoc committees to help EMSL management or users with special needs.
